“Yard” means an open space on a lot or parcel of land, other than a court, unoccupied and unobstructed by a building from the ground upward (see Setbacks diagram).

“Yard, front” means a yard extending across the full width of the lot or parcel of land. The depth of a required front yard shall be a specified horizontal distance between the front lot line, where the front lot line is coterminous with the street line, and any part of the front elevation of the structure located on the lot.

“Yard, rear” means a yard extending across the full width of the lot or parcel of land. The depth of a required rear yard shall be a specified horizontal distance between the rear lot line and a line parallel thereto on the lot or parcel of land.

“Yard, side” means a yard extending from the required front yard, or the front lot line where no front yard is required, to the required rear yard or the rear lot line where no rear yard is required. The width of a required side yard shall be a specified horizontal distance between each side lot line and a line parallel thereto on the lot or parcel of land. Where a side yard is bounded by a street, the width of such required side yard shall be a specified horizontal distance between the side lot line on the street side, where said side lot line is coterminous with the street line of a fully widened street or the ultimate street line of a partially widened street, and a line parallel thereto on the lot or parcel of land.
