Viewing the Legislative History
The Legislative History view lists all the legislation on record for the
jurisdiction in reverse chronological order. To view it, click the Track
button in the main navigation bar, then click “Legislative History.”
Enactments (legislation) are included when they have affected the code(s)
on this site, are available in PDF format, or are listed for historic
reference.
The view can be filtered by type of legislation, year of adoption, and
current effective status.
Histories of Sections
To view the legislative history of a particular code section, click
the “History of This Section” button in a section’s heading, or
click the abbreviated history note that appears at the end of the
section.
In the dialog that appears, amendments to the section will be listed
by date and link to the enactments that made those amendments. (Some
sections may not have histories available, in which case the button
will be greyed out.)
Enactment Information
Clicking on any enactment in the Legislative History view or a
History of This Section dialog opens a separate dialog with more
information on the enactment, including any affected sections in the
code(s) on this site.
Print-Style Enactment Tables
In the Tables section at the end of a code, an Ordinance Table,
Resolution Table, or similar may appear. These tables lists all
available enactments in a print-ready format, similar to that which
appears in any print version of the code.
If an enactment is codified, its location in the code is cited by
chapter number at the end of the enactment description. Enactments
are usually codified if they are general, permanent, and/or include
penalty provisions for noncompliance. “Not codified” indicates that
the enactment could have been codified but was not for some reason
(e.g., superseded by a later enactment, codified in a separate
publication). “Special” means the enactment was special in nature or
for a specific period of time (e.g., budget, annexation, tax levy).
As noted in the text with blue background, the Legislative History
view (see above) offers more features than the print-style table(s).
